  1. Welcome to Trade Up! Careers in Construction CD. 
  2. Viewing the CD - The CD was originally designed to be displayed at 640x480 pixels. However, the CD has a feature that allows you to link to the Web and the setting that gives the best results we feel is 800x600, as most sites on the Web are formatted for this resolution. If you are not going to link to the Web from the CD and want the program to fill your screen, change to 640x480. To change your screen, open "Control Panels" - "Monitors & Sound" and change resolution, or use the Control Strip monitor control (the little TV with black and white squares).

  4. I:  Minimum System Requirements

  6. This CD requires that you have a 180 Mhz PowerMac (604 processor) or equivalent, 32MB of free RAM, a 16 bit sound card and a video display capable of 32-bit colour at 640 by 480.

  8. QuickTime 4 is also required. For your convenience the installer is located on this CD.
  9. You do not need to install this if you have QuickTime 4 or later.

  11. While the Trade Up! CD may run under systems that don't meet these requirements, it may run poorly. Of course, systems that exceed these requirements will benefit from faster and smoother performance.

  15. If a screensaver is present on your system, activation of this screensaver while the CD is running may cause it to lock-up. If you are going to be away from your computer for an extended period, either disable your screensaver or quit the CD.

  17. III: Troubleshooting

  19. --- The CD runs but really slowly.
  20.  
  21. The CD is meant to run alone, so try shutting down all other programs. Also, you may try turning virtual memory on in the "Memory" Control Panel and giving it more RAM to work with.

  23. --- The CD does not fill the screen and is surrounded by a border

The CD was originally designed to be displayed at 640x480 pixels. Any monitor resolution greater than that will give you a border around the screen. However, the CD has a feature that allows you to link to the Web and the setting that gives the best results we feel is 800x600, as most sites on the Web are formatted for this resolution. If you are not going to link to the Web from the CD and want the program to fill your screen, change to 640x480. To change your screen, open "Control Panels" - "Monitors & Sound" and change resolution, or use the Control Strip monitor control (the little TV with black and white squares).

  27. --- When the CD is run, the movies don't play. They appear as boxes with lines through them.

This CD uses QuickTime to play movies. If your not seeing them it means you either do not have QuickTime installed or have an older version. QuickTime 4 is included on the CD. Quit Trade Up!, open the QuickTime Installer Folder on the CD then double-click "QuickTime Installer" and follow the instructions. Restart your computer and you should have movies.

  31. --- Web Link does not work

Is your computer connected to the Internet? Do you have a Web browser? If the answer to either of these is no, then the link will not work. In some cases the link may not work because there is not enough free RAM to launch your browser. If this happens, write down the web address you want (or use the "print" button), quit the CD, and open your browser and enter the address.
